Awesome truck

If you’ve been a trucker for a long time, chances are that your understanding of what an ideal home is may be a little bit different from the average man’s perspective. For most weeks that truck drivers are on the road, the big chunk of steel becomes home. Now, somebody got thinking about this and so came up with the idea of making life on the road more luxurious. Heavy duty truck (HDT) makers and owner of International Brand of Trucks, Navistar enlisted the services of two design experts, Boatwright and Cagan (Carnegie Mellon University Professors of Art of Design) to transform a modern HDT into a palace on wheels.

The pair has broken down design into a science, being able to identify what features bring on positive emotions and which ones produce negative feelings. Upon inspecting several big trucks, they were shocked at the way truckers were spending their days (and nights).

Their work with Navistar leads to what is now the Lone Star, one of the high-end big rigs available today. They had no prior knowledge of the way Trucks were built, which may have helped bring a fresh new look and feel.

Many people describe the interior of the Lone Star as a private Jet look-and-feel. The professors stripped away many of the features which lead to a cramped living space and re-equipped it with much more space saving and efficient pieces – A 42inch pull out bed, a pull out desk that can be used to eat or for work. Airplane style overhead cabins allow the trucker to keep things tidy. To top it all off, the truck even has hardwood flooring.

In addition to the luxuries, they helped make the truck significantly more efficient, getting 5 to 15 percent more miles on the same fuel tank.

The Lone Star is considered the hot rod of trucks. Now, take a look at some of the breathtaking photos of the interior below and let us know what you think. Dream Truck – or over the top? What do you think? Would you even dare to put this on a Nigerian Road?
