FRSC CAPTURES 1,087 OPERATORS IN DRIVING STANDARDISATION PROGRAMME

FRSC meets Driving School Ops

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has captured about 1,087 driving schools in its standardisation programme with 611 meeting minimum requirements for operation.

Corps Marshal of FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi disclosed at an interactive session with representatives of the driving school associations in Abuja, that 1,623 driving school instructors have been registered on the Corps’ portal with 129,198 trainee drivers, while 59,218 of them have graduated.

He said that the scheme was in line with the House of Representatives motion on non-enforcement of the conditions for the establishment, registration and operations of the driving schools, Oyeyemi urged operators of driving schools in the country to close ranks in the collective efforts to maintain the standards of driving schools.

He noted that the practice of some of the operators distort the information on FRSC portal, stressing that such operators would have their licences withdrawn and the portal closed against them.

“It is therefore, the government’s responsibility through the Federal Road Safety Corps to enhance the conditions for establishment, registration and operation of driving schools in Nigeria,” he stated.

According to him, ensuring safety on Nigerian roads revolves around a number of key issues including driver education, training and licensing.

“All owners and operators of driving schools in Nigeria should be acquainted with the requirements of the standards operating procedures (SOP) for the operations of the Driving schools in Nigeria,” Oyeyemi added.
