FRSC INDUCTS 126 ROAD MARSHALS

FRSC NEWLY INDUCTED OFFICERS

The Federal Road Safety Corps RS.9.4 Owerri, Imo State has inducted 126 road marshals out of 350 candidates that applied for voluntary jobs.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Sector Command in Owerri, the Sector Commander, Mr. Peter Kibo, noted that the inducted road marshals were carefully selected to complement the efforts of regular marshals, stressing that they were selected based on their integrity, antecedents and proven track records.

He said, “The individuals that were inducted provided borehole for the sector command, bought generator and renovated the hall.

“I am very proud to associate myself with the special marshals. I have worked in other states in Nigeria; it is only in Imo State I have seen special marshals working.”

The sector commander, who said road marshals rendered free service to the nation, expressed gratitude to the national coordinator of FRSC RS.9.

“I thank Dr. Sini Kwabe because it is during his time that these breakthroughs are taking shape.”

In his remark, Kwabe described the special marshals as good Nigerians and gave them success tips.

He said, “You must put in your time, talent and treasury to do the job well. If you fail to inculcate these three Ts, you will fail in the job.”

The representative of the FRSC Corps Marshal and Zonal Commanding Officer RS.9, Mr. Samuel Obayemi, urged the road marshals to avoid Pull-Him-Down syndrome in the course of the job.

Obayemi, an assistant corps marshal, noted that RS.9, comprising Enugu, Abia, Imo and Ebonyi states, was rated Number Eight in the country.

He lauded the efforts of the commands in the zone, which he said, had elevated the zone to fourth position, saying, “We are still working hard to make the zone assume the first position in the country.”

He advised them to be up-to-date with their monthly dues, conduct enlightenment programmes and always go on patrols.

Obayemi, who said that the mandate of RS.9 was to reduce road crashes by 15 per cent in 2016, however, mandated the road marshals to oversee the activities of the FRSC Club members.

“This is aimed at grooming the younger ones in positive dimensions,” he said.
