INNOSON VEHICLE MANUFACTURING COMPANY LTD ( IVM) UNVEILS BRAND NEW IVM VEHICLES (PICTURES)

The Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company ltd (IVM) on Monday 11th December 2017 officially unveiled brand new Innoson vehicles: IVM G80, IVM G40, IVM G20 & IVM GRANITE at the IVM Factory Nnewi, Anambra State.

The Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment Dr. Okechukwu Enyinna Enelamah who was ably represented by the Special Adviser Mr. Emeka Ifezuluike said “The Federal Government is extremely happy that the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company is manufacturing made-in Nigeria vehicles at affordable prices”.

He seized the opportunity to call on all Government Agencies, private organizations and individuals to patronize made-in-Nigeria products to grow the economy.

In the same vein, the Director General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) Mr. Jelani Aliyu MFR who was represented by the Special Adviser/ Director Policy and Planning Department, Alhaji Sani Musa in his speech reiterated the Council’s commitment to ensure the survival, growth and development of the Nigeria Automotive Industry.

“NADDC is solidly behind Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd and will continue to provide necessary support in terms of protective measures to increase the production capacity of all the indigenous manufacturers of vehicles and auto components”.

He called on other Nigerians to emulate the IVM and invest significantly in the local auto industry for a more robust economy that would create jobs for the unemployed youths.

LOCALLY-ASSEMBLED VEHICLES TO GET SPEED LIMITERS

As part of efforts to reduce the rate of speed-related accidents in Nigeria, the National Automotive Development and Design Council has directed all vehicle manufacturing plants in the country to install the speed-limiting device in their vehicles.
A deadline for compliance on the installation of the device in all vehicles being imported into the country has also been given.

In a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, a member of the Presidential Taskforce on Customs Reform, Mr. Lucky Amiwero, has called on the Federal Government to review the policy, due to its negative impact on the economy.
He said, “The impact associated with the implementation of the auto policy is as follows: the diversion of cars carrying vessel to neighbouring West African ports as a result of high tariff on imported vehicles; and the reduction of the maritime workforce by 70 per cent, which affects mostly licensed customs agents, importers, dealers and Nigerians abroad.”
UNDERSTANDING THE HISSING & SQUEAKY SOUND FROM TRUCKS

SAFETY TIPS! COPING WITH POTHOLES

Hitting potholes can throw your vehicle\'s front end out of alignment. If you feel your car \"pulling\" during driving, that\'s a clue that you could have a problem.

Check the tread on your tyres. Uneven tread wear can be a sign of misalignment. If you hit a severe pothole, have the vehicle\'s alignment and tyre balance checked.

When you hit a pothole you can damage your tyre and/or the metal wheel of your vehicle. Keeping your tyres properly inflated will help reduce damage from potholes and other road hazards.

The impact of potholes on tyres increases dramatically with speed and can cause hidden, internal damage that could lead to tyre failure weeks, or even months, later. It\'s best to avoid potholes entirely, but if that\'s not possible, don\'t brake during the pothole impact. Instead, apply brakes before hitting a pothole and release them just before impact. Braking during the impact sets up the tyre and wheel assembly for a \"solid hit\" against the edge of the hole. Less severe damage occurs when a tyre is rolling than when it is skidding over a hole during braking.
