KWARA ACCIDENT LEAVES ONE DEAD, THREE INJURED

An unidentified man was confirmed dead on Saturday, while three sustained varying degrees of injuries, following an accident on a bridge along the road between Flower-Garden and Kwara Mall in Kwara State.

Our correspondent gathered that the accident, which occurred on Friday night, involved a Renault Scenic car with registration number SHA 630 TW (Kwara State) and a commercial motorcycle with registration number TRE 224 QD.

Eyewitnesses said the driver and an occupant of the car were coming from the Flower Garden end, while the motorcyclist and his passenger were heading towards Flower Garden when the car swivelled on a bridge and hit the motorcycle, knocking its occupants into a carnal under the bridge.

While the cyclist’s passenger was said to have died instantly, sources said the cyclist sustained severe injuries to his legs. The driver of the car and another occupant were said to have also sustained injuries.

The Kwara State Sector Commander, Sunday Maku, who confirmed the accidents, said: “The accident happened around 9.25pm. The road is Ilorin-Old Jebba Road. Location is near Charis Hotel about 100m away from FRSC’s office.

“The vehicles involved were two. The point of impact was at the side. There was one motorcycle and a vehicles Renault car. The people involved were four, people injured were three and one killed. FRSC team took the victims to UITH. It was a fatal accident.” he added.
