MOTOR DEALERS LAMENT LOSS OF N2BN TO SEIZURE OF VEHICLES BY CUSTOMS

The Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON) Thursday said its members lost N2 billion as a result of the indiscriminate seizure of cars by officials of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) across the country.

Its National President, Mr. Ajibola Adedoyin, made the disclosure at a stakeholders meeting for the North-west zone held in Sokoto.

He lamented that the indiscriminate seizure of vehicles by Customs officers had pauperised its members and caused undue hardship.

Adedoyin expressed deep concern at the way and manner the Customs officers invade houses of car dealers and shops to impound vehicles, describing it as unfortunate.

“It is indeed sad that Customs officers will just invade a car dealer’s shop or house to seize vehicles. We lost about N2 billion to such indiscriminate seizures across the country while in Abuja alone, our members lost over N1 billion,” he said
