TRAGEDY AS GUO LUXURY BUS PLUNGES INTO MAJIDUN RIVER (PICTURES)

Tragedy struck in the Owode, Ikorodu area of Lagos on Friday after a luxury bus belonging to GUO Transport Company conveying travellers from Enugu plunged into the Majidun River.

Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, South West zone (NEMA), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and other rescue agencies have been battling to save the victims.

According to the General Manager LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu: “The incident happened at Owode Elede after Mile 12. The luxurious bus had a brake failure and lost control. It dived into the river”.

Also speaking, the spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency, South West zone, Ibrahim Farinloye stated that three people, including the driver have been recovered dead.

He said 48 have been rescued alive from the river.

He said although the accident occurred around 3am, search and rescue was still ongoing as at 9am.
