AGBAMI CO-VENTURES, LAGOS STATE PARTNER ON ROAD SAFETY

The Agbami Co-ventures, the Lagos State Capital Territory Development Agency (LSCTDA) and the Federal Road Safety Commission have embarked on partnership aimed at strengthening safety measures on Lagos roads.

Speaking during the launch of the programme in Lagos, tagged: ‘Arrive Alive Road Safety Programme’, the Director, Star Deepwater Petroleum limited, Mr. Jeffrey Ewing said the initiative, which was pioneered by Chevron, aimed to deploy regular training programs for drivers, provide helmets for motorcycle riders and organized enlightenment programs for truck drivers and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.

He noted that the programme, which has been running in several States, included ‘child road safety campaigns’ in some States of the federation with a view to helping the children imbibe road safety culture early in life.

According to him, “Safety is a core value among the Agbami Co-Ventures. Last week in Asaba, the we made a similar donation to the FRSC in Delta State. In continuation of this N40million road safety campaign, today, we are donating three Police Motor Bikes to the FRSC, Lagos State Command in support of the road safety initiative in the State.

He thanked the Arrive Alive Road Safety Initiative, the FRSC and LSCTDA for the successful implementation of this program, adding that this would greatly reduce the incidence of road accidents in the State.

Agbami Co-ventrues includes Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited (A Chevron Company); Famfa Oil Limited, Statoil Nigeria Limited; Petroleo Brasileiro Nigeria Limited and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Also lending his voice, the Group General Manager, NAPIMS/NNPC, Mr, Sejebor Dafe Stephen said he remained confident that the gesture will assist the FRSC in the discharge of their duties and will reduce road accidents on the Lekki-Epe highway and other parts of Lagos metropolis.

On her part, the Chairman of Famfa Oil Limited, Mrs. Modupe Alakija said the initiative was a direct response to the spate of road mishaps around the country and the need for private sector to support instituting road safety culture among Nigerians.
