No fewer than seven persons lost their lives while two others were injured in a motor accident, which occurred yesterday along Bauchi-Jos Road. Briefing newsmen, the Spokesperson of Bauchi Zonal Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Commander, Daniel Sayi, said the accident involved a truck with Registration Number TYW 24 XA and a Peugeot.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has said that it will no longer condone the recklessness of tipper drivers in Anambra State. The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr. Sunday Ajayi, made this known while briefing newsmen at the end of a meeting with the leadership of the Tipper Owners and Drivers Association (TODAS) on Tuesday in Awka.

The Lagos State House of Assembly has resolved to call on the State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to provide Closed Circuit Television cameras on roads across the state to monitor activities of motorists. As part of efforts to reduce the rate of speed-related accidents in Nigeria, the National Automotive Development and Design Council has directed all vehicle manufacturing plants in the country to install the speed-limiting device in their vehicles. A deadline for compliance on the installation of the device in all vehicles being imported into the country has also been given.

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), says contractors will resume work on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway next week. Fashola, who spoke at the inaugural Buharimeter Town Hall meeting in Abuja on Thursday, said contractors had abandoned several projects because the last administration owed them money.
