CHISCO GROUP, NOC AND NLRC SET TO TAKE 10 PEOPLE TO RIO 2016 OLYMPIC GAMES

In an unprecedented collaboration involving Chisco Transport Group, Nigeria Olympic Committee, National Lottery Regulatory Commission and O & I Contract Ltd (a marketing consulting company), ten (10) lucky winners from Nigeria shall join millions of visitors and sport enthusiasts from all over the world in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to witness the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

The Organizations are collaborating for the sole purpose of organizing a tourism raffle promotion which will see lucky winners, emerging from three (3) regional draws, enjoy an all-expense-paid trip to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil for 2016 Olympic Games.

The Raffle Ticket, printed under the direct supervision of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) was officially unveiled on the 21^st of October 2015 at the complex of the Nigeria Olympic Committee in Lagos. The occasion had in attendance the Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Mr. Tunde Popoola, Top Management Staff of the Chisco Group led by the Special Assistant to the Chairman, Sir Moses Chukwuka, Managing Director of O & I Contract, Mr. Isaac O. Isaac, top sport editors from leading Nigeria tabloids led by the Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, Mr. Fred Edoreh.

The tickets are being sold to the public for N200.00 Only throughout the Chisco Group business subsidiaries comprising Chisco Transport, Chisco Hotels, CTN Express (Courier) and Chisco Energy. Travellers transiting through the Chisco Transport Bus terminals have a greater chance of buying tickets and participating in the raffle as many times as possible. The Draws shall produce three (3) winners apiece from the Western and the Eastern Region, while the four (4) remaining winners will emerge from the Grand Finale Draw to be held in Abuja in July 2016.

All winners, according to Mr. Isaac O. Isaac, “will be transported to and fro Rio. They will be provided accommodation and feeding for the duration of the Games”.

LOCALLY-ASSEMBLED VEHICLES TO GET SPEED LIMITERS

As part of efforts to reduce the rate of speed-related accidents in Nigeria, the National Automotive Development and Design Council has directed all vehicle manufacturing plants in the country to install the speed-limiting device in their vehicles.
A deadline for compliance on the installation of the device in all vehicles being imported into the country has also been given.

In a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, a member of the Presidential Taskforce on Customs Reform, Mr. Lucky Amiwero, has called on the Federal Government to review the policy, due to its negative impact on the economy.
He said, “The impact associated with the implementation of the auto policy is as follows: the diversion of cars carrying vessel to neighbouring West African ports as a result of high tariff on imported vehicles; and the reduction of the maritime workforce by 70 per cent, which affects mostly licensed customs agents, importers, dealers and Nigerians abroad.”

SAFETY TIPS! COPING WITH POTHOLES

Hitting potholes can throw your vehicle\'s front end out of alignment. If you feel your car \"pulling\" during driving, that\'s a clue that you could have a problem.

When you hit a pothole you can damage your tyre and/or the metal wheel of your vehicle. Keeping your tyres properly inflated will help reduce damage from potholes and other road hazards.

The impact of potholes on tyres increases dramatically with speed and can cause hidden, internal damage that could lead to tyre failure weeks, or even months, later. It\'s best to avoid potholes entirely, but if that\'s not possible, don\'t brake during the pothole impact. Instead, apply brakes before hitting a pothole and release them just before impact. Braking during the impact sets up the tyre and wheel assembly for a \"solid hit\" against the edge of the hole. Less severe damage occurs when a tyre is rolling than when it is skidding over a hole during braking.
