The Federal Road Safety Corps’ patrol team at the Badagry Seme border who has apprehended and impounded a vehicle for Seatbelt Violation and Driver Licence Violation discovered that it was conveying a large quantity of Indian hemp into the country.

Head, Media Relations and Strategy, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, who confirmed the arrest said the Badagry unit team intercepted the vehicle with number plate, EPE 237 XC at 0845hrs and had already established the two offences before discovering it was conveying Indian hemp.

The discovery was made in collaboration with the Nigerian Customs who were on the same route.

The vehicle is with the Comptroller Custom, Seme, for further investigations before it would be handed over to the appropriate drug law authority.

“Because of this kind of achievements targeted at keeping the society sane, the FRSC Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, continues to call for a stronger collaboration with sister agencies,” Kazeem said.

Recently, the Corps had intercepted a vehicle trafficking children in Kaduna and equally recovered five locally made AK 47 rifles from a man whose vehicle was involved in a crash.

Kazeem stated that the Corps Marshal was pleased to see officers and men of the Corps demonstrating a willingness to collaborate with sister agencies over security and safety of the motoring public.
