FRSC REGISTRATION NUMBER

7.0. FRSC Registration Number serves as a unique identity for Tanker/Trailer Transport Operators, for collating information and monitoring of the company’s safety compliant records. Appraisals will be made periodically during compliance assessment reviews, crash investigations and facility inspections.

NEW-ENTRANT PROGRAMME

8.0. First-time Articulated lorries (Tankers/Trailers) operators/applicants for FRSC Registration Number shall be automatically enrolled in the New Entrant Safety Assurance Program that requires them to pass Safety audit and maintain acceptable probation operating safety performance over an initial 18-month period before they are given permanent registration status.

STEPS IN FRSC REGISTRATION PROCESS

9.0. The steps to be followed are:

a. Obtain registration forms

b. Complete and submit application form(s).

c. Complete notifications/registration requirements (with details provided).

d. Begin New Entrant Safety Assurance Program.

e. Obtain permanent FRSC registration/maintain FRSC Number and maintain operating Authority information.

Note:

Applicants may visit a nearby FRSC Command or FRSC website: www.frsc.gov.ng to obtain Registration Forms and other necessary information that will help users complete the forms correctly. Detailed instructions for completing all registration forms and requirements are provided.

ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES CONCERNING TANKERS/TRAILERS OPERATIONS IN NIGERIA

Road Safety Registration for Tankers and tractor-Trailers (RSRTT) series. All applicants for Articulated Lorries (Tankers/Trailers) Operators must be incorporated and must have insurance and legal process documents before authorization is issued by FRSC

10.0 THE ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURES SHALL INCLUDE:

10.1 SAFETY AUDIT NOTIFICATIONS: FRSC will notify the operator in writing of the results of the safety audit within 45 days from the date it was completed. The safety audit checklists are:

LOCALLY-ASSEMBLED VEHICLES TO GET SPEED LIMITERS

As part of efforts to reduce the rate of speed-related accidents in Nigeria, the National Automotive Development and Design Council has directed all vehicle manufacturing plants in the country to install the speed-limiting device in their vehicles.
A deadline for compliance on the installation of the device in all vehicles being imported into the country has also been given.
AUTO POLICY CAUSING HIGH MARITIME JOB LOSSES – EXPERT

In a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, a member of the Presidential Taskforce on Customs Reform, Mr. Lucky Amiwero, has called on the Federal Government to review the policy, due to its negative impact on the economy.
He said, “The impact associated with the implementation of the auto policy is as follows: the diversion of cars carrying vessel to neighbouring West African ports as a result of high tariff on imported vehicles; and the reduction of the maritime workforce by 70 per cent, which affects mostly licensed customs agents, importers, dealers and Nigerians abroad.”
UNDERSTANDING THE HISSING & SQUEAKY SOUND FROM TRUCKS

Ever wondered why trucks and buses make funny squeaking and hissing sounds? Well, the squeaking is the air escaping after braking and the hissing sound is the automatic bypass safety valves at work, ensuring the air pressure remains at the correct level.
Since a main advantage of air-brakes systems is their ability to use air to operate, the compressor is constantly kicking on and kicking off to refill the reservoirs with pressurized air. SAFETY TIPS! COPING WITH POTHOLES

Hitting potholes can throw your vehicle\'s front end out of alignment. If you feel your car \"pulling\" during driving, that\'s a clue that you could have a problem.

Check the tread on your tyres. Uneven tread wear can be a sign of misalignment. If you hit a severe pothole, have the vehicle\'s alignment and tyre balance checked.

When you hit a pothole you can damage your tyre and/or the metal wheel of your vehicle. Keeping your tyres properly inflated will help reduce damage from potholes and other road hazards.

The impact of potholes on tyres increases dramatically with speed and can cause hidden, internal damage that could lead to tyre failure weeks, or even months, later. It\'s best to avoid potholes entirely, but if that\'s not possible, don\'t brake during the pothole impact. Instead, apply brakes before hitting a pothole and release them just before impact. Braking during the impact sets up the tyre and wheel assembly for a \"solid hit\" against the edge of the hole. Less severe damage occurs when a tyre is rolling than when it is skidding over a hole during braking.
