Members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State have kicked against the plan of the state government to relocate the Ajah Motor Park.
The group said the government had not given any reason for the relocation, noting that moving the park would negatively affect the economic activities of the present location.
It was said the government planned to move the park from the Ajah market area to Ten Family, opposite Abraham Adesanya Estate.
During a protest on Friday, the Chairman, NURTW, Eti-Osa East Branch ‘A,’ Alhaji Kayode Jabita, said, “Prior to the construction of the bridge, the government promised not to take us away from our present place which is closer to the market, but now the government is planning to move us to a place called Ten Family without any reason.
“We are appealing to the government to leave us in our present place.”
The Secretary of the Union, Adeshina Aribifo, said, “Ajah Motor Park is in the centre of the Eti-Osa Local Government Area. It also serves as a national and international park. Moving the park will be a disservice to all.”
