More state governments’ patronage may be coming the way of Pan Nigeria Limited as the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has promised to assist the Kaduna-based auto company to speed up its rejuvenation programme.
The governor, who described Pan Nigeria as a household name – apparently referring to its hey days as a foremost assembler/maker of Peugeot brand of vehicles, made the promise during a visit to him in Kano by the auto firm’s management team.
Although Governor Ganduje lamented the neglect of the company by the Federal over the years, he expressed optimism that Pan Nigeria would bounce back, especially with the renewed vigour of the new Management and the expected patronage from various government agencies and individuals.
A statement by the auto company also quoted the Governor as making reference to the new National Automotive Development Policy as another springboard Pan Nigeria needed for speedy resuscitation.
“Pan Nigeria Limited will bounce back better and stronger than ever before,” he reportedly said.
The Governor, who expressed gratitude to the delegation for the visit, explained that his administration had embarked on measure to ensure financial prudence in the face of dwindling revenue accruing to the state.
He assured of his administration’s readiness to partner Pan Nigeria Limited in terms of patronage (of cars) and in training the youths on vocational and technical skills to reduce unemployment; and therefore required that a blueprint of training from the company’s training school be sent to him for consideration.
Earlier in his speech, the Managing Director, Pan Nigeria, Mr. Ibrahim Boyi, expressed gratitude to the governor for the warm reception accorded his team.
He explained that the visit was to congratulate the Governor for his well-deserved victory at the poll and hailed the people of Kano State for making an informed choice in electing a thoughtful personality as their governor.
