Obviously, some truck drivers are still not fully conscious of the enormous threat facing the haulage and logistics industry in the face of the unending spate of extremely fatal accidents involving truck/trailers/tankers in recent times.
These pictures, received from an eyewitness, were taken on the 18th of June at around 1.27pm along the Lagos-bound side of the Sagamu-Benin Highway (A few Kilometers from where the accident involving several OOU Students happened days back). The reckless truck drivers were reported to have fenced off the highway from other road users driving dangerously side-by-side for a considerable length of time with several motorists hooting and exhibiting frustration while it lasted.
Fact still remains that many haulage firms are not doing enough in the area of training and creating capacities in there key human resource namely the truck drivers. Much still need to be done with respect to getting them to remain ever conscious of the minimum driving standard expected on a busy highway.
