SAHCOL WINS BEST AVIATION HANDLING COMPANY IN WEST AFRICA

The Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited, SAHCOL has won the West Africa Balafon Award, as the “Best Aviation Handling Company in West Africa”.

The Award was presented to SAHCOL at the just concluded 3rd Accra Weizo held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra, Ghana.

The award presentation, which was the zenith of a paper presentation and discussion, titled “West Africa as a Domestic Aviation Environment” was graced by key stakeholders in travel and tourism, and members of the diplomatic corps from West and East Africa.

While presenting the award, the organisers informed SAHCOL that after a voting process, the company was chosen as the best aviation handling company in West Africa.

The organisers further specified that, the award “recognises the endeavours of SAHCOL playing a significant role in not only driving the Aviation and Tourism Agenda of Nigeria but also helping forge ties between countries in West Africa and Africa with a view to enhancing regional tourism”.

SAHCOL was one of the four West African travel/tourism companies recognized at the event.

At the same time, the Chairman of SAHCOL, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi (MON), the Vice Chairman of SAHCOL, Chike Ogeah Esq, and the managing director/CEO, Rizwan Kadri, received awards, for “Top 100 Travel Personalities in West Africa”.

According to African Travel Quarterly (ATQ) News, the Balafon Awards was instituted in 2009 to recognise individuals and organisations that have excelled in Tourism and Travel and who also have contributed to the growth of Hotels Business, Travels and Tourism in West Africa.

Chike Ogeah while collecting the award thanked the organisers for the recognition accorded to him and his organisation.

He used the opportunity offered by the event to also lent his voice to the paper presented, on “West Africa as a Domestic Aviation Environment.”

He pointed out that Air Transport is an essential tool for social progress and economic prosperity, hence called on the government of the West African countries to urgently implement policies and agreements that will grow the region’s aviation, as an improved air travel will help stimulate tourism, influence investments and will have a considerable impact on the labour markets of the various countries in the region.
