Two males reportedly died, while other 15 males, two females and four children sustained injuries in an accident involving a trailer with number plate, ZUR 126 YL.
Our correspondent in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, gathered on Thursday that five persons escaped without a scratch in the accident which occurred on Jebba-Mokwa/Berger road.
The Kwara State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Sunday Maku, said the accident was caused by failure of the vehicle’s brakes, adding that 28 people were involved in the crash.
He said, “Two people died, while 15 males, two females and four children were injured. About N435,000.00 was recovered from the scene.”
In another development, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lawan Ado, said it was imperative for the police and the state vigilance groups to cooperate to enhance security.
He spoke during a meeting with the ‘Eminent Persons Forum,’ in Ilorin, where he called on traditional rulers, transport unions and other stakeholders to collaborate with the police in the fight against crime.
He added that credible information and collaboration of members of the public would enhance the performances of the police.
He said, “We need to support the police.
“I want you to disabuse your mind from bad perception about the police. The police are not bad. In every society and agencies, there are bad and good people. Policemen are not bad people, even though there are bad eggs among us.”
