Two passengers died while eight others were reportedly injured in an auto crash at the J3 area along the Benin-Sagamu Expressway on Monday.
The accident, which occurred almost 48 hours after another fatal one which claimed two lives on Saturday in the same area, involved a 14-seater Toyota bus with number plate, ENU 994 ZH, and a Mercedez Benz truck with number plate, MUS 727 XX.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the driver of the commercial bus violated the law by driving against the traffic, which led to the collision with the truck travelling on the right lane.
He said, “The driver of the Toyota bus drove against the traffic, which is prohibited by the traffic law. In the process, one of its rear tyres burst and it rammed into the Mercedes Benz truck which was being driven on the right lane.
“Two male passengers in the bus died, while seven other males and one female were injured, including the driver of the bus.”
Akinbiyi said the corpses had been deposited in a mortuary at Ronal Hospital, Ijebu Ode, while the injured passengers were receiving treatment in the hospital.
