CAR FALLS OFF BRIDGE IN IBADAN LANDING ON A COMMERCIAL BUS (PICTURES)

Many people were forced to run for their lives after a car fell off a bridge and landed on a bus at Olorunsogo along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident happened on Tuesday August 1 around 7.03am. No life was lost but the affected cars were destroyed in the incident.

According to one Makanjuola Nurudeen Olatunji who shared the incident on Facebook, the car was driven by a lady. She probably lost control, veering off the bridge thus leading to the sad incident.

Luckily, the commercial bus had no passenger as at the time of the incident.

LOCALLY-ASSEMBLED VEHICLES TO GET SPEED LIMITERS

As part of efforts to reduce the rate of speed-related accidents in Nigeria, the National Automotive Development and Design Council has directed all vehicle manufacturing plants in the country to install the speed-limiting device in their vehicles.
A deadline for compliance on the installation of the device in all vehicles being imported into the country has also been given.

The impact of potholes on tyres increases dramatically with speed and can cause hidden, internal damage that could lead to tyre failure weeks, or even months, later. It\'s best to avoid potholes entirely, but if that\'s not possible, don\'t brake during the pothole impact. Instead, apply brakes before hitting a pothole and release them just before impact. Braking during the impact sets up the tyre and wheel assembly for a \"solid hit\" against the edge of the hole. Less severe damage occurs when a tyre is rolling than when it is skidding over a hole during braking.
