GROUP, FIRM FIGHT CRIME AMONG OKADA RIDERS

The Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Clevland Investment Management Limited “to curb crime amongst its members using ICT.”

The President of ACOMORAN, Babangida Maihula, at the event in Abuja on Wednesday said there had been complaints that some motorcyclists and tricycle riders perpetrate crimes in their communities.

This, he said, informed the signing of the memorandum aimed at stopping such crimes.

He said members of ACOMORAN also “have challenges where their bikes and tricycles are hijacked by hoodlums.”

Maihula stressed the need to partner with his company to capture the biometric and keep track of all Okada riders so that it would be easy to fish out anyone who committed a crime with his bike or tricycle.

He said that with the partnership, Clevland would provide a comprehensive biodata of members of the association and as well install a tracking device on their bikes in order to recover them when stolen.

Chairman, Board of Trustees of the association, Chief Alfred Okpara, confirmed the need to protect the members from losing their bikes and tricycles and as well curb crime amongst the members.

On his part, Head of Operation, Clevland Investment Management, Abdulkareem Ikharo, said the project would commence with the registration of the members while their bikes and tricycles would be installed with tracking device.
