The Managing Director of the Katsina State Road Management Agency, Alhaji Abdul Mohammed, on Tuesday said that when he assumed duty in the agency last year, he discovered that over N14 bn belonging to the agency had either been stolen or was missing.

He told the Katsina Commission of Inquiry probing the immediate past regime of former Governor Ibrahim Sheu Shema that he had relevant details to substantiate his claim.

Hearing on his memo, detailing how past government officials allegedly got involved in the disappearance of the fund, has however been adjourned till October 26, 2016.

The commission’s lead counsel, Hassan Liman (SAN), had called for the adjournment, a request not objected to by other counsel.

In another development, the police ADC to former Governor Sheu Shema, DSP Sheu Kokoh, testified before the commission on Tuesday, denying all the allegations levelled against him.

He told the commission that he did not appear before it on time because he was awaiting a directive from the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

He said, “As a civil servant, and a senior officer, I am supposed to go by the rules governing us. The directive must come from my IGP before I could appear before you. My delay in appearing is not borne out of disrespect for the commission, sir.”

The former ADC denied an allegation that he collected N608m from the former ALGON officials in the state.

He asked the Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Masari on Budget and Finance, Faruoq Lawan, who made the allegation in the memo presented to the commission on the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, to back up the claim with documents.

He adjourned till October 20, 21 and 24, 2016, for trial.
